About the Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center
Where are we? 201 North Findley Street
The Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center was first organized in 2000 and moved into the 1914 Federal Building and Post Office, located one block off the main street in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, the "Weather Capital of the World." The building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was acquired from the federal government and extensively restored and upgraded thanks to local private donors and matching grants. The Weather Center has a unique opportunity to excite and educate visitors about the old and new ways of predicting and studying weather. Through interactive, hands-on exhibits, visitors learn first hand about tornadoes, thunderstorms, meteorology, winds, weather folklore and more. A theater shows age-appropriate weather videos for the extreme weather fans in all of us, and a weather-themed gift shop is also part of the building. If you would like to be part of our growth in Phase II, contact us at info@weatherdiscovery.org or use our easy contact form to see how this can be done.
We look forward to welcoming visitors to our world of weather!
Groundhog Day weekend brought visitors from around the country and the world to tour Punxsutawney and all that it offers. The Weather Center is one of the best features in our town!
