Weather Center Receives Help from IUP-Punxsy Psych Students

The Spirit
The Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center has been getting "a little help from its friends," in the form of IUP students in Theresa Ruffner’s general psychology class.
As part of their course work for the semester, students are required to complete a number of service learning hours with local organizations of their choosing.
Students Gamal Mansaray, Melanie Panasiuk, Alana Sprecher and Krystal Vigliano have been working with Mary Jean Johnston, project administrator, during school and scout field trips at the Weather Center.
They help in the classroom with the activities and explain the various exhibits to the students and adults.
"The young visitors love having these college helpers work with them, and from the grins on the college students’ faces, they are benefitting as well," Johnston said.
