Weather Center Earns Grant from NWA Education Committee

The Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center has been notified that it is the recipient of a grant from the Sol Hirsch National Weather Association Fund.
The NWA Education Committee received more that 50 requests for grants this year, and the Weather Center was one of the top ten proposals.
The Sol Hirsch Grant was set up 15 years ago for the purpose of improving the education of students in the study of meteorology.
While serving as executive director for the NWA, Hirsch initiated many training and education programs for the benefit of members and the general public.
"We hope to promote future relationships with the National Weather Association, since we both share the same hope for promoting greater attention to weather and acknowledging its effects on Earth," said Mary Jean Johnston, project administrator at the center.
